Thinking about what makes other people laugh is always intriguing for me. Being Ryan, one thing that always gets the crowd going is me standing next to Timothyan anywhere. Somehow, my presence next to him always manages to induce laughter, just as sure as day turns into night. Maybe it's the contrast of our personalities, or perhaps it's our energy when we're together. Either way, it's always an amusing spectacle.
Standing on the ledge of self-awareness, I was asked once to dig deep and reveal my most profound fear. Not every day does a man willingly unmask his innermost apprehensions, but the sincerity of the moment led me to confess.
If you're wondering about the origins of this apprehension, it is rooted in a past of skydiving adventures and several close calls involving airplanes. It started when I was 19. My parachute didn't open during a skydiving attempt, and this accident was the onset of my fear of heights, which gradually evolved into, among other things, a fear of airplanes.
I still fly these days, but it doesn't mean I enjoy it. Between the close calls and the accident that snowballed my fear, I would probably prefer to moonwalk to New York from Los Angeles. Or even, as previously stated, risk the perils of shaving.
Talking about fears and close calls, when asked about challenging scenes in Red Notice, the first scene that comes to mind is the one-shot fight scene. It was me against DJ and Ryan, and let's say it was as formidable as it could get.
However, the biggest challenge and surprise came in the form of a dancing scene with DJ. He is a big guy, and trust me when I say my toes were terrified.
When they asked what job I thought DJ would be best suited for if he wasn't an actor, I thought of him holding a high-ranked position in the armed forces as a General. But the surprise answer came from DJ himself. He imagined himself as a poet. As astonishing as it might sound, DJ as a poet did have quite the artistic ring to it.
We got to talking about our favorite songs, and I got a fair amount of teasing for my pick. I went classic and chose 'Hold on' by Wilson Phillips while they all laughed and picked songs like 'Staying Alive,' 'Spice Girl hits,' and a slightly explicit track by The Yayhoos.
If you ever wonder what kind of workout I enjoy, it's definitely Pilates and Yoga. Despite assumptions that I would prefer heavy lifting on the squat rack or engaging Zumba sessions, I would always choose the tranquility that comes with my Pilate and Yoga routines.
Discussing what makes DJ laugh, his laughter is usually a result of my bad impression of him. It's an inside joke that started on set and continued for the sheer joy it brought us, despite it never really becoming part of the movie.
Thoughts wandered to the question of my biggest expenditures. Some joked it was pies, and others guessed it to be mixers. The actual answer was time and money spent traveling back home to see my family. Although traveling home might not be counted as an 'expenditure' in the conventional sense, the happiness and peace gained from those visits are truly priceless.
In summary, our lives are colored by our fears and joys, spruced up with laughter and tears. It's all about the journey, the experiences we gather, and the memories we create. Whether it's a peculiar fear, a challenging work scene, or just the sheer joy of dancing, these elements create the narrative of our life, making it an adventure worth experiencing.
