Jonathan Bailey, the breakout star of Bridgerton, has been cast alongside Matt Bomer in the upcoming Showtime limited series Fellow Travelers. Bailey will play Tim Laughlin, a recent graduate with strong political and religious beliefs, while Bomer will portray Hawkins Fuller, a charismatic State Department official. The eight-episode miniseries, based on Thomas Mallon's novel, is described as an epic love story and political thriller set in McCarthy-era Washington. It follows the pair's romance as it develops over four decades, against the backdrop of historical events including the Vietnam War protests and the AIDS crisis. Allison Williams also stars in the series, which is created by Ron Nyswaner and executive produced by Bomer. Bailey's next role comes as he reprises his role as Lord Anthony Bridgerton in the third season of Bridgerton. The openly gay actor has previously discussed the pressure he felt to hide his sexuality earlier in his career, but now prioritizes living authentically.
