Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey has defended the lack of sex scenes in the second season of the hit Netflix series. The actor, who plays Anthony Bridgerton, stated that the intimate moment with his character and Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) was appropriately timed. Bailey believes that surprising the audience and focusing on deeper human understanding is more important than explicit scenes. Creator Chris Van Dusen echoed this sentiment, stressing that all intimate scenes in the show have a larger purpose. Bailey, who is gay, expressed hope that his role will serve as a model for LGBTQ+ actors. He wants young actors to see that it's okay to go for a role knowing that someone is openly gay and successful in the same space. Bailey also hinted that his character will continue to be seen in future seasons. Season 2 of Bridgerton is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
