Shonda Rhimes, the mastermind behind the hit medical drama Grey's Anatomy, has captivated audiences for over 16 seasons with intense drama and unexpected plot twists. However, there is one character's death that Rhimes wishes she could take back. In a recent interview, Rhimes revealed that she regrets killing off Dylan Young, portrayed by Kyle Chandler, in the show's second season.
Dylan Young, a bomb squad leader, met a tragic end in one of Grey's Anatomy's most memorable episodes. Chandler's character was tasked with defusing a bomb lodged inside a patient's chest. Despite his efforts, Dylan's fate was sealed when the bomb exploded, taking his life and leaving a lasting impact on both the characters and viewers.
Rhimes confessed that she didn't anticipate the emotional connection fans would form with Chandler's character.
Rhimes admitted that she regretted her decision almost immediately after seeing Chandler's performance. "He would pitch me ideas on how Dylan, his character, could maybe not explode, and I would show him the line in the script that said, ‘Dylan explodes,'" Rhimes shared.
