The cost of suites at Super Bowl 58 are so expensive, even players are struggling to afford it.
Christian McCaffrey’s mom, Lisa McCaffrey, revealed on Friday that she and the NFL star’s fiancée, Olivia Culpo, weren’t unable to secure a suite at Allegiant Stadium ahead of the Feb. 11 game.
“We looked into a suite and none of us can afford it,” Lisa said. “Not even Christian, money bags over there — nor money bags Olivia.”
“So, we are not in a suite,” she added. “I’ll tell you that right now.”
This news should shock us all given the fact that McCaffrey’s annual salary is about $12 million per season and that doesn’t include his sponsorship deals.
Despite not getting a suite of their own, Lisa says the group was able to “negotiate” a reserved area; however, they were only able to secure eight tickets for the family.
With ticket prices averaging over $9,000 each, Lisa noted that all of Christian’s “best friends” will be watching from a nearby bar and they plan to meet up with them afterwards.
“Long story short, they are outrageously expensive … I don’t know if it’s the Taylor Swift factor, I don’t know if it’s the first time in Vegas factor, there is just so much going on,” she explained.
Lisa also pointed out that the Super Bowl has become just as much of a “corporate event” as it is a sporting event — a potential reason for the insane costs.
“The big corporations buy out all the suites and then they give it to their clients as perks or their employees as perks,” she speculated. “That’s who is buying the big suites.”
As of Friday, a suite for the Super Bowl was costing $2.5 million dollars.
Super Bowl LVIII will kickoff on Sunday, February 11th at 6:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
