The second season of the hit Netflix series, Bridgerton, has officially begun filming. In photos from the set, Jonathan Bailey, reprising his role as Anthony Bridgerton, was seen with new costar Simone Ashley, who plays his on-screen love interest, Kate Sharma. The upcoming season will focus on Anthony's romance with Kate and will be based on the novel The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn. The first season of Bridgerton followed the romantic pursuits of British high society families against the backdrop of a mysterious gossip columnist named Lady Whistledown. The series was part of Shonda Rhimes' deal with Netflix and was announced to have a second season on January 21. The new season will explore Anthony's search for a suitable wife, although love is off the table for him. Simone Ashley's character, Kate, was originally named Kate Sheffield in the books but was changed to have an Indian descent for the show. Edwina, Kate's younger sister, will be played by Charithra Chandran. The second season will not feature Regé-Jean Page, who played the Duke of Hastings in the first season.
